Ford & Slater pitches in with Diamond Jubille
Over 20 volunteers from Ford & Slater Leicester have spent two days giving a spring clean to a "secret garden" in readiness for a Diamond Jubilee garden party. The volunteers improved the community garden at the elderly perople's bungalows in Audley End, Braunstone - less than a mile away from the Ford & Slater head office.
The 2 day challenge was organised by charity Leicestershire Cares with the support of Leicester City Council's neighbourhood housing team and wardens.
Michelle Bolton King of Ford & Slater said "The sun's been shining and the residents have been absolutely lovely. The team have been hard at it and we've had a great time. The company has been involved with Leicestershire Cares for 3 years and we take part in a wide variety of community projects. Everyone gets involved and we love it."
Councillor Sarah Russell, Assistant City Mayor responsible for neighbourhood services, said "It is great to see businesses volunteering their time and effort for such a fantastic cause".
