Ford & Slater apprentice takes home the top prize

Ford & Slater’s third-year apprentice, Daniel Johnson, has been awarded Apprentice of the Year at the Commercial Motor Awards 2020.

The Commercial Motor Awards are a celebration of the strength and excellence of teams working in new and used commercial vehicles. This year the award ceremony took place via a live broadcast, hosted by Commercial Motor’s Editor, Will Shiers.

Over the last three years, Daniel has excelled in his position as a DAF Technician Apprentice. Kaine Gamble, Service Manager at Corby, explains how passionate Daniel has been since day one: “The day Dan turned 18, he was knocking at my door pleading to be put onto the DAFaid rota! His commitment to the trade and doing all he can in his power to keep learning is the reason he will become one of the very best.”

Nigel Strevens, joint MD at Ford & Slater, praised Daniel’s award, “He is a great credit to himself, the DAF Training scheme, the industry, his mentors, the company and apprenticeships in general.”

Ford & Slater’s Group Apprenticeship Manager, Lee Sursham, who has seen Daniel grow throughout his three years at Ford & Slater concludes: “Dan is passionate about the work he does; proud of his apprenticeship and to be a part of the next generation of our industry. Most importantly Dan is a role model, not just to our 50 apprentices, but to everyone.”

A huge congratulations to Daniel from everyone at Ford & Slater!
