Six Ford & Slater apprentices have made it through to the Regional Finals of WorldSkills 2020. The Ford & Slater apprentices, along with 12 other competitors will take part in a competition for students and apprentices studying towards their Level 3 Qualification in Heavy Vehicle Engineering to find the best in the UK.

The apprentices will go on to compete for a spot in the finals, where the top 6 in their category will compete live at WorldSkills, held at the NEC in Birmingham on the 19-21 November 2020.

Ford & Slater Group Apprentice Co-ordinator, Lee Sursham, comments: “Having six apprentices make it through to the regional finals of the WordSkills competition is fantastic. All six have worked incredibly hard during their apprenticeship and thoroughly deserve their spot.”

Sursham continues, “We will do everything we can to support them in preparation for the next round and wish them the very best of luck.”

The WorldSkills Heavy Vehicle Engineering competition which is held in conjunction with The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) will see apprentices be assessed on their skills, knowledge, and abilities. The judges will be looking out for good time management, problem solving and planning skills.
