Recently, Nina, a member of the public, contacted DAF HQ, with a special request:

“It’s been a hard couple of years for everyone, but for all sorts of reasons it’s been really hard on my husband Jez, and in his spare time, driving his beloved DAF XF 105 on Eurotruck Simulator 2 has kept him sane. I would love to do something extra special for his Birthday at the end of October, to help cheer him up further. Is there any way you could help me get him to see/look over/sit in a real DAF XF 105?’

DAF advised Nina that the XF 105 is no longer in production, but that she should contact her local Sales Dealer, Ford and Slater Leicester, as they may have an older vehicle on site. Nina did just that and DAF received the below email from her earlier this week:

‘I took your [DAF] advice and got in touch with Ford and Slater Leicester, and a lovely young chap called Jack Tibbles rang me in reply to my email. There were no 105s about, and as you know they aren’t made any more, but Jack invited Jez and myself over for a tour of their dealership.

He really came up trumps for us. He made us feel really welcome, introduced us to their Sales Director, Chris Hutt, showed us all around and had a good chat with us. The visit was crowned by being shown around one of the New Generation DAF XF trucks (the XGs were out on demo). We sat in it and Jez was allowed to start it up, it had a wonderful engine sound. Jez was also presented with a model XG+ truck and trailer, a driver’s jacket, and a holdall to take them away in.

I know we were only there for an hour, but it just made both our day (our birthdays are just a week apart) and I want to thank you for helping me to give Jez such a brilliant extra Birthday present.

DAF have always been our favourites, but even more so now! :-)”
