Ford & Slater apprentices are set to attend this year’s Peterborough Careers Show on June 21, where Ford & Slater have sponsored the careers zone dedicated to engineering and technology.
The 2018 ‘Mission Possible’ Careers Show, held by our apprenticeships partner, The Skills Service, is an annual careers fair aimed at providing inspiration and career opportunities for young people aged 14 to 24, in the UK.
Ford & Slater are regulars at the show, with our apprentices taking the time each year to teach school and college students about the various schemes available with us - in particular, the DAF Apprenticeship Programme which runs from local Ford & Slater dealerships in Peterborough, Spalding, Kings Lynn, Wisbech and Corby.
This year however, will be the first year of sponsoring the event’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) Zone. Apprentice Co-ordinator, Lee Sursham, explains, “DAF Trucks has endless and ever-changing technology in their vehicles, and the HGV apprenticeship at Ford & Slater covers mechanical and electrical engineering. For these reasons the STEM Zone seemed a good fit for us, and we wanted to show our support for the industries which fall under this sector.”
There will be plenty of apprentices on the stand to answer any questions visitors might have, as well as a DAF truck and diagnostic equipment for students to have a try themselves. We look forward to meeting everyone at the event.
